When Tree Removal is Necessary

Trees and other plant life are important for the health of our planet because of the way they clean the air. But unfortunately, there are times when tree removal is necessary and unavoidable. The best way to know if there is an alternative course of action is to work with an experienced arborist, but if one of the following situations is in play, it is best to move forward and perhaps plant one or more trees to replace it.

When Tree Removal is Necessary

  • Tree is diseased- The sooner that you notice that a tree has a disease, the higher the chance you have of saving it. However, sometimes there simply isn’t anything that can be done and tree removal is necessary to keep the disease from spreading to healthy trees nearby.
  • Tree is poorly located- While transplanting a tree is sometimes possible, if that cannot be done and a tree is causing a problem where it is located, then tree removal is necessary. Examples include when tree roots pose a danger to your home’s foundation, driveway, or septic system. Being too close to the house or power lines is another potentially dangerous situation.
  • Tree has unhealthy roots- If a tree developed with a weak root system and has become top heavy, there is serious danger of it toppling in heavy winds. Tree topping may work in some situations to save the tree, but tree removal is sometimes the only way to ensure safety.
  • Tree has been severely damaged- Even a healthy tree can fall prey to the elements, such as being struck by lightning.
